James Joyce: Lectures & Resources

Modern Irish Writers: Index

Notice to students
A number of “Lectures & Readings” of the life and works of James are given on this page [as below]. These correspond to the interpretation offered in a looser spoken form in the classroom. Extracts from Ulysses are also given here in “Extracts” [as below]. (Shorter and longer extracts from each chapter are available in this section.) In addition, some of his own thoughts about art in general and his own works in particular are given on this page (see “Remarks” - as below).
There is a much more ample reservoir of biographical and critical information about Joyce and his individual works on the “Author A-Z” pages of the Ricorso website - as attached [opens in separate window]. The Joyce pages can be reached by following the alphabetical links [ i.e., “J” > Joyce, James > Life ... &c.] Finally, the full text of all his works and writings can be reached directly through the Ricorso “Library” [as attached]. (Go to “Classic Irish Authors” and click on “James Joyce”.)
