1824-1880; b. Newry, Co. Down, of poor family; settled in Scotland; contrib. Ayr Advertiser and Chambers’s Journal; protegée of Mrs S C Hall; Miscellaneous Poems (1856?) [PI 2nd edn. with adds. Glasgow 1856] by ‘The Irish Girl’; married imprudently to intemperate man, and died poor; also The Opening of the Sixth Seal and other poems (Ayr 1846). PI RAF
