working as an accounting, and contrib. magazines. Stories of Scottish
small-town life incl. The Dawsons of Glenara (1877); Martha
Spreull (1884); The Chronicles of Glenbuckie (1889); Kilmallie
(1891); Dr Congaltons Legacy (1896), in which a Scottish
doctor leaves his property among 3 incompatible heirs. Admired by Mrs
