Life
1765-1859 (Bitter Bob); b. Dublin, ed. TCD, BA 1787; bar 1785;
married to sister of Robert Emmet; resigned from yeomenry in protest at
atrocities under Gen. Lake; published anti-Union pamphlets; imprisoned
on suspicion of treason in 1803; Case of Ireland Stated (1847)
supported Repeal; defended The Nation, 1846, and John Mitchel,
1847; became father of North-East Circuit, working into his eighties.
