Life
b. Dublin; dg. of a shopkeeper; worked in the Central Bank, and became a chief dealer; submitted work to Kate Cruise O’Brien; publ. Dreaming of a Stranger (1997) as ‘first novel’, with sales of 50,000; also Caroline’s Sister (1998), a best-seller, and Isobel’s Wedding (1999); later in dispute with Poolbeg; noticed in Books Ireland (Feb. 1999); issued How Will I Know? (Headline 2005), 431pp., a story of a dating mother with a teenage daughter.

Namesake: Sheila Flanagan is the author Tourism Destination Planning (Dublin: Tourism Research Centre 2002), Sustainable Tourism Development: Toward the Mitigation of Tourism Destination Impacts (Johnstown Castle, Co. Wexford: Environmental Protection Agency, 2007), and similar titles .
