Rex Cathcart, The Most Contrary Region (Belfast: Blackstaff 1984)

‘The next day a whole battalion of Partisans turned out to be recorded marching and singing: Up the road they swing, led by an accordion band, old and young, men and girls, singing their marching songs, the valley echoing with the tramp of their feet. They even managed to include “It’s a long way to Tipperary”, which they thought was the British national anthem, in their recital.’
