1828-1897 [née Wilson]; Passages in the Life of Mrs. Margaret Maitland (1849); Merkland (1851); m. her cousin Francis Wilson Oliphant; contrib. novels to Blackwood’s Magazine, Salem Chapel (1863), one of four Chronicles of Carlingford, issued anon. 1863-76; Life of Edward Irving (1862); ed. foreign classics, and wrote introductions on Dante (1877); Cervantes (1880); Memoirs of Laurence Oliphant (1829-1888) [ODNB q.v.] and Alice Oliphant (1892).
