Life
1937-2023 [Thomas G. Nestor; fam. Tom]; b. Coolcappa, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick; son of farmer and one of ten children; ed. St. Flannan;s Coll., Ennis, Co. Clare;took work at Shannon Sales and Catering on leaving school, 1955; worked for an American company in Ennis, 1981-90; established training and consultancy company for middle-management; m. in 1964; retired in 2004; d. at home in Riverstown, Birr, Co. Offaly, 22 Dec. 2023.
began publishing with two articles on rural Ireland accepted by the Manchester Guardian, 1964; wrote and published three radio plays broadcast by BBC and RTÉ and num. short stories published in Scotland, USA and Australia; his three novels are The Keeper of Absalom’s Island (1999), The Blue Pool (2002), and Talking to Kate (2009); contrib. a column, My Life and Times, to The Limerick Leader;, 1964-98; he donated his papers to Limerick Univ. in 2014.
