Edward Daly

Life
[fam. “Ned” Daly]; 1916 signatory & nationalist martyr; b. 25 Feb. 1891, in Frederick St., Limerick; a br. of Kathleen Clarke, the wife of Tom Clarke, principal organiser of the iRB rebellion and first signatory of the Proclamation who died facing a British firing-squad in the aftermath; worked as a clerk in Dublin, and appt. Commandant of the 1st Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers during the Easter Rising of 1916; both the youngest serving officer at that rank and the youngest of the men executed for their part in the Rising; d. 4 May 1916; he has left no literary remains.
