1921- ; b. London [var. Waterford or Dublin], son of an Irish father; moved to Dublin at six months; ed. Newtown School, Waterford, and TCD; moved to England during World War II and joined civil service; appt. dir. of hydraulics commission; [dir.] First Civil Service Commissioner; settled in Berkshire on retirement; issued collections, The Brown Parrots of Providencia (1993) - aetat. 73; Who Goes There? (1996); Mrs Power Looks Over the Bay (1999); and Gas Light & Coke (2006), launched in Dublin.
