Life
(1877-1952) [Sir Charles Otto Desmond MacCarthy], member of the Cambridge Apostles from 1896 and later prominent in the Bloomsbury set; foremost literary and dramatic critic of his day; son of Charles Desmond MacCarthy, M.A., a descendant of the last MacCarthy Chief of the Name and King of Desmond; b. Plymouth, ed. Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge where he knew Lytton Strachey, Bertrand Russell and G. E. Moore; he wrote the obituary of W. B. Yeats in The Sunday in 1939.
